Are You a Good Candidate for Cataract Surgery?

Serving Cataract Surgery Patients in Charleston

Cataracts are an extremely common visual condition in adults over the age of 40. Most people will develop cataracts if they live long enough. In the early stages of cataracts, the visual symptoms may not be noticeable, but as cataracts progress, they can cause more significant visual impairment. Cataract surgery is recommended when the effects of cataracts start to interfere with everyday life.

This quiz will give us an indication of whether you might be suffering from cataracts and could benefit from cataract surgery. The only way to know for sure if you’re ready for cataract surgery is to schedule an in-person cataract evaluation with respected cataract surgeon Kerry Solomon.

  • Finds their quality of life and daily activities are affected by cataract symptoms (e.g., blurry, cloudy vision or night vision problems)
  • Is healthy enough to undergo outpatient surgery
  • Does not have certain pre-existing eye diseases or infections
  • Understands the benefits and potential risks of surgery
  • Has reasonable expectations of treatment that they have discussed with the surgical team
