Dr. Kerry Solomon, world renowned ophthalmologist and South Carolina’s leading LASIK and laser cataract surgeon, is pleased to welcome Chelsea R. Johnson, O.D. to his award-winning ophthalmology team.

Dr. Johnson is a fourth-generation optometrist, following in the footsteps of her father, grandfather and great grandfather. Dr. Johnson is a skilled optometrist in ocular primary care, binocular vision and contact lens related services including monovision, multifocals, rigid gas permeable lenses, synergeyes, and bandage contacts, eye infection and injury, as well as LASIK and cataract procedures.
Dr. Johnson worked as an Associate Optometrist at Primary Eyecare – Drs. DiGirolamo & Associates in Charlottesville, Virginia from 2017 to 2019, before making the move to the Lowcountry.
A Pennsylvania native, Dr. Johnson received her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences in 2012 at Lock Haven University, received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2016, and completed her Residency in Ocular Disease and Primary Care Optometry at Bay Pine Veterans Affairs Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida in 2017.
Johnson has volunteered her expertise and provided eye exams to uninsured, low-income individuals and families through Lions Club vision screenings, and donated vision exams and glasses to more than 1,400 underprivileged children through Give Kids Sight Day from 2013-2015.
